Updated: Jul 1, 2021

Are you an aspiring virtual assistant? Do you want to engage in freelancing, but confuse and worry about how to become one? Do you like to be a social media manager? These questions might be one of your idea in your mind now. Like me, as I was on the way to becoming a VA, I doubted myself and ask this question, if it is possible to be a VA without a degree.?

Yes, it is! But of course, freelancing is not for everyone. Bear in mind that it will take a lot of work. Becoming a virtual assistant requires you to be passionate on what your niches and strengths. However, you can become a successful VA with the right combination of dedication, determination, and enthusiasm (which should be no problem — after all, these are common traits of superstar VAs!)

Tips in starting your way to becoming a Virtual Assistant

1. Find your Niche

On finding what niche you are in, find what you love working on, or be an expert on that field. Be clear about your direction. Choose a viable niche and a viable market segment.

2. You also need to be Internet-Savvy

When we say that, you love to work online, you must know the ins and outs of the environment you are digging, the technology, or the tools that you might use.

3. Take/Invest in pieces of training or Online Courses

Some experienced virtual assistants offer free courses and you can grab it and start learning. Might as well get a certificate for it and be credible.

4. Expand/ Nurture the Skills you acquired

Along the way, you will acquire more skills outside your niche, and it is good to have them. It's like learning while earning. Well, every day is a learning experience and growth is good!

5. Established your Online Presence/Brand

This will assist you in establishing your footing and eventually growing a successful business.

The last thing you want to do is get started without a plan in place.

Grasping at straws in the hopes of finding something that will work isn't nearly as effective as entering the VA field with a well-planned strategy!

Well, I say that you must have dedication & passion. Sometimes, it can be tedious. Because, it makes you bored working alone with no one to talk to, like talking to a co-worker in a corporate job setting. There are times that you have to work on a graveyard shift, sometimes it is also quite challenging!
